Hakeme round cup II
A stoneware ceramic round cup with ‘Hakeme’, a traditional white slip decoration with Hake brush, on black clay. It was hand thrown, hand brushed, and fired at 1250ºc.
Taking inspiration from the rough and wild landscape in the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors, it was handcrafted locally in Harrogate. Each piece intertwines my Japanese heritage and countryside surroundings to create patterns and glazes which mimic organic textures.
The dynamic brush marks are applied by hand, which add a touch of movement to the cup.
The handmade nature of this ceramic cup ensures that no two pieces are identical.
