Hakeme moon jar II
A ‘Moon jar’ round ceramic vase with ‘Hakeme’, a traditional Japanese white slip decoration with Hake brush, on black clay. It was hand thrown, hand brushed, and fired at 1230ºc.
Taking inspiration from the rough and wild landscape in the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors, it was handcrafted locally in Harrogate. Each piece intertwines my Japanese heritage and countryside surroundings to create patterns and glazes which mimic organic textures.
The handmade nature of this ceramic moon jar ensures that no two pieces are identical.
