Sky blue bowl
A ceramic bowl in ‘Sky blue’ glaze. This stoneware bowl was hand thrown, glazed in several layers, and fired at 1250ºc.
Taking inspiration from the rough and wild landscape in the Yorkshire Dales, it was handcrafted locally in Harrogate. Each piece intertwines my Japanese heritage and countryside surroundings to create patterns and glazes which mimic organic textures.
The hue of the Sky blue is reminiscent of a clear, serene sky, evoking a sense of calm and serenity. The hand-glazed finish enhances the depth of the blue, creating a visual effect that mimics the expanse of the celestial sphere.
Handcrafted with stoneware ceramic, the Sky blue bowl is not merely a decorative item but a piece of functional art. The tactile experience of running your fingers along the bowl's smooth surface reflects the care and attention dedicated to its creation.
